Museum of Impossible Forms is glad to present an intimate acoustic session with Dandara who will present her new work Estrangeira.
For this session Dandara will be accompanied by Rafa Berreto on the guitar and violin. Dandara is a singer, performer, and musical producer living between São Paulo and Zürich. Recognized for her outstanding technique and powerful scenic expression, Dandara studied folk song at University of Livre de Música, São Paulo, and took part in Jeannie LoVetri's Somatic Voicework, New York, 2010.
Throughout her career she has collaborated with several transdisciplinary projects of music, dance, theater, visual arts, and performance in Brazil and Europe. Poetic, potent and tropical, Dandara reflects a sophisticated and contemporary Brazilian music with roots in MPB (música popular brasileira), in the tradition of Brazilian song and popular Afro-Brazilian rhythms that flirt with jazz and groove. Her debut album, “Dois Tempos de Um Lugar”, in partnership with Paulo Monarco, was released in 2016. In her new album “Estrangeira” Dandara researches the female body in transit, migration, the power of alterity and ancestry.
